Murray Steering Sector Assembly
The old Murray mower wears out steering pinions and sectors every few years. Now that it’s 25 years old, and Murray sold out to Briggs and Stratton, parts availability is becoming a real problem. New sector assemblies are hard to find and very expensive when they are found. There is no point replacing the whole assembly, only the sector gear has any real wear. If a 3D model can be made, it can be laser cut relatively inexpensively. SendCutSend cut this out for $12.50, a new assembly would cost 10X that amount. I doubt that I have even 2 hours TOTAL time in this. It turned out to be a very cost-effective solution. The biggest challenge was removing the old one. That is easy enough with an appropriate sized hole-saw.
